A PASSION FOR BOOKS
"I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted. Books shouldn't be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage." - Roald Dahl

Dave's Biography

How it all began...

Dave has been an avid reader since the age of 5, fondly remembering hours spent at the local library exploring worlds he could only dream about from his home in Des Moines, Iowa. After moving to Illinois and little success in college, he spent 7+ years in the U. S. Navy, during which he married his lovely Penny and had two kids, Kate and Kevin. In 2000, he was given the opportunity to write a weekly general interest column for a local newspaper, an opportunity which lasted 10 years and 500 columns. During this time, he also wrote a weekly Sunday Gospel reflection which was published in over 400 parish bulletins and school newsletters throughout the Midwest. These reflections are collected in his "Cycles of Faith" series.

Humble beginnings in Des Moines, Iowa.
